01 / THE PROBLEM

The challenge

Bring a multi-category retail catalog, customer workflows, and protected store management into one maintainable application.

02 / ENGINEERING APPROACH

How it’s structured

Next.js route handlers adapt requests into separate controller and service layers. JWT access cookies are backed by revocable database sessions, with a MySQL production adapter and separate media storage.

Web & API

Next.js pages and thin route adapters, with controller/service boundaries for business logic.

Identity & data

HTTP-only tokens, hashed session records, server-side checkout validation, and Hostinger MySQL.

Media

Sharp-generated WebP variants and a production object-storage adapter.

03 / IMPLEMENTATION

What the project includes

  • Search, category and collection filters, sorting, variants, and persistent carts.
  • Customer accounts, wishlist, and verified-purchase review workflows.
  • JWT authentication, revocable sessions, and role-based staff access.
  • Product CRUD, catalog controls, inventory and order visibility.
  • Optimized product imagery and Cloudflare R2 storage integration.
04 / CURRENT STATE

What’s available

A publicly accessible storefront with merchandising, catalog browsing, product details, account entry points, and cart workflows. The implementation notes describe a manual-order checkout and protected admin operations; no conversion or revenue figures are claimed.

Scope & limitations

Online payment integration is not yet selected. Checkout creates a manual order request; delivery charges and payment are confirmed before dispatch. Provider-dependent authentication and storage features require their production configuration.
